| The 2007 UTHGU World Championships held July 27-28th at the University of Notre Dame was a great success. Countries from as far away as India were represented.
UTHGU President Chongjaenim Jang Soon Deog and Vice President, Grand Master Lee By ung Chae, and their Hamadang World Champion Demonstration Team arrived from Seoul, South Korea in time to perform at the Championships.
Accompanying Chongjaenim Jang Soon Deog and Grand Master Lee was UKNTU State Presidents, Grand Master Jeong Moo Ki and Grand Master Nam Taek Kim also from South Korea.
On Friday July 27th seminars in Habgido, Gumdo and Taekwondo were taught by Master Jon Boo Baek who is a 7th Dan from South Korea. In addition a Coaching and Referee seminar was given with the attendees receiving certification.
On Saturday July 28th the 2007 UTHGU World Championships were held at the University of Notre Dame. Competitors competed in Poomse, Breaking and Sparring in all 3 Korean Martial Arts; Taekwondo, Habgido, and Gumdo.
Beautiful Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals were awarded to the top 3 places and certificates of participation was given to all competitors.
The crowd was AMAZED as Grand Master Soon Pil Hong, 8 th Dan, originally from South Korea but now instructing in Niles, MI, performed a demonstration by bench pressing almost 400 lbs. followed by breaking 6 house bricks with a single knife hand strike and 2 house bricks with a straight punch.
At the closing ceremonies it was announced that the 2008 UTHGU World Championships will be held in China!
